The thesis consists of the following three sections.1. An Iron and Copper System Catalyzed C–H Arylation of Azoles with Arylboronic Acids. Azoles are an important class of structures in natural products and pharmaceuticals and the cross-coupling of azoles with phenyboronic acid is an important method for the the synthesis of aryl-substituted azole compounds. An efficient, environmentally friendly, and economical new method for arylation reactions of azoles with arylboronic acids via copper–iron-catalyzed C–H and C–B bond activation has been developed. The protocol tolerates a series of functional groups, such as methoxy, nitro, cyano, chloro, and trifluoromethyl groups.2. New Method for the Synthesis of Phenothiazines via a Tandem Iron-Catalyzed C–S/C–N Cross-Coupling Reaction. An environmentally benign and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of phenothiazines via a tandem iron-catalyzed C-S/C-N cross-coupling reaction. These reaction conditions were tolerant of various functional groups, including methyl, trifluoromethyl, halogen and heterocyclic compounds. Some of the issues typically encountered during the synthesis of phenothiazines in the presence of palladium and copper catalysts, including poor substrate scope, long reaction times and poor regioselectivity, have been addressed using this newly developed iron-catalyzed method.3. In view of the importance of 2-aryl benzoxazole in pharmaceuticals and other aspects, a more eco-friendly and safe method was developed. The cheap and environmental friendly catalyst system is highly effective for the synthesis of 2-aryl benzoxazoles. This new method avoids some limitations like the use of palladium complexes and copper salts, narrow substrate range. And the method can be effective for both C-N coupling and C-O coupling reaction.
