Wedding Dress In Period Of The Republic Of China To Explore The South Of The Lower Reaches Of The Yangtze River

In ancient Chinese wedding culture there were basically six procedures which were called “Nacai”,“Wenming”,“Naji”,“Nazheng”,“Qingqi”and “Yingqin”.However, it differed between each dynasty,each region and each nationality.There are both the historical inheritance and specific characteristic of times in the costume culture.With the development of history,the Chinese traditional wedding culture has been challenged by the Western during recent years,therefore, new kinds of wedding culture are built as well as new concept of marriage.In the late Qing Dynasty,the 1911 Revolution gave an end to the social unrest along with the feudalism. At the same time, the western culture started to spill into China.On that occasion,Chinese traditional culture was influenced by the western way of living and ethics views.The Chinese people started to accept the Western wedding ceremony and costume not only because of the culture migration but also because the current people tended to accept new living conditions,social thoughts and aesthetic standards.In this dissertation the writer studied the wedding costume in the South of the lower reaches of yangtze river during the Republican Period in China.The historical background, current social situation and the change of mentality were all analyzed in this paper.With these analysis, the writer concluded that the social class differences started to disappear during that period of time and Chinese costume started catch up with the international development.
