Physical and chemical performance improvements of epoxy resin is an interesting topic since the properties of unmodified epoxy resin no longer fit the industrial requirements.This article is about to prepare a series of caged octa aminopropyl silsesquioxane which help enhance both thermal and mechanical performance of epoxy resin E44. Moreover, the interactions between those hybrids and epoxy resin E44 are also explored in this paper.First, a group of Inorganic/organic ethes hybrid materials PTGE are made from POSS-NH2 with different proportions of p-tolyl glycidyl ether(TGE) between 1:6 and 1:14 via open cycloaddition reaction. Then, similarly, a class of imine hybrids PBA、PDABA are produced by the reactions between POSS-NH2 and benzaldehyde(BA)/p-dimethylamino benzaldehyde(DABA) with ratios of 1:5 to 1:8. Once these hybrids are obtained, a serial of statistical tests are employed to explore their attributes, including solubility tests、FI-IR、1H NMR、TG, etc.After that, a new type of organic/inorganic hybrids modified epoxy composites can be prepared by adding previous ethes hybrid materials PTGE with different quality score between 5% and 20% into epoxy resin E44. In order to find the optimal reaction condition of this composites, it is necessary to analyze its properties when solidified, such as curing time and temperature,testing tensile strength、elongation at break、impact strength、DSC、TGA and so on. In addition, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope are useful in studying variation of this composites’ internal structure.Then, use the similar approach to make other two target composites, combining imines hybrids PBA、PDABA and epoxy resin E44. It is because PBA、PDABA are powders that the optimization analysis of their solvency is required. Once curing process is determined, the influence of imines hybrids’ internal structure on the modifition of Epoxy can be studied based on their DSC、TGA、tensile strength、elongation at break、impact strength, etc. Therefore, the optimal reaction condition and amount of added hybrids can be achieved.
