PVC-coated membrane is a new generation of composite material with high strengthsskeleton fabrics such as glass fiber fabric and surface coating of PVC material. It is widely usedbecause of the advantages of low cost, good toughness and easy processing. In the process ofPVC-coated membrane material processing, adding a variety of additives makes deterioration inthe flame retardant performance. In addition, in the process of long-term outdoor use, theperformance of PVC-coated membrane material is becoming lower under the effect of light, heatand water etc., including the flame retardant performance. So it needs to add flame retardant toimprove the flame retardant and its stability performance, meets the requirements of buildingmaterials fire rating. Therefore, it is necessary to research on the flame retardant performance ofPVC-coated membrane materials.Hydroxy stannate zinc (ZHS) as green flame retardant is added to the PVC-coatedmembrane material, and studies its flame retardant performance. And compound with theantimony trioxide (Sb2O3) to flame retardant PVC-coated membrane material, and then get flameretardant formula with better comprehensive performance. Then PVC-coated membrane materialwith flame retardant for artificial accelerated photooxidation aging test, discusse the effect ofphotooxidation aging on the flame properties of PVC-coated membrane material.First of all, using chemical precipitation, with potassium hydroxide as precipitant, preparethe sample. Then study the sample by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier infraredspectrometer (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The results showsthat the prepared sample is cube ZHS with length of the side1μm. Then add ZHS to thePVC-coated membrane material, test by limiting oxygen index (LOI), thermogravimetricanalysis (TG) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) method to characterize the flameretardant properties of the PVC-coating material. The results showed that the LOI of PVC-coatedmembrane material with6%of ZHS amount can be27.8%.Secondly, the different ratio and different number of ZHS and Sb2O3and other additives areadded to the PVC paste to prepare PVC-coated membrane composite material with effect offlame retardant. Then the flame retardant properties of PVC-coated material with ZHS and Sb2O3are discussed by methods of LOI, TG, and SEM. As results showed that PVC/ZHS compositecoating material has higher amount of residual carbon than the PVC/Sb2O3composite coating material;10copies of the dosage of the ZHS can make the LOI of PVC coating material to29.2%, while10portions ZHS/Sb2O3(1:1) can make the LOI of PVC coating material reached30.5%, namely the ZHS and Sb2O3have synergistic flame retardant effect on PVC-coatedmembrane material, which is helpful to reduce the usage of Sb2O3.Finally, using UV lamp accelerate aging of PVC-coated membrane material with flameretardants and non flame retardant, discusses the photooxidation aging effect on the flameretardant properties of PVC-coated membrane material, by analysis methods of the LOI,FTIR-AIR, TG, element energy spectrum (EDS) and surface yellowing index. The resultsshowed that the LOI value of PVC-coated membrane material is steadily rising at the beginningof photooxidation aging, after the increase of aging time stabilizing decline; PVC-coatedmembrane material with the flame retardant has stability thermal after photooxidation aging; Inthe process of photooxidation aging, PVC-coated membrane material take off the HCl so Clelement decreases on surface, automatic oxidation reaction oxygen increases; Taking off the HClPVC generate conjugated polyene structure, change the surface color of PVC-coated membranematerial, with the increase of photooxidation aging time the material appearance shape graduallydamaged, so the research of keep its exterior morphology is a great significance to theconstruction which has request for appearance.
