Sulfuric acid is widely used as one of important basic chemical raw materials in many fields as petrochemical, chemical, steel, metallurgy, military. The annual production of sulfuric acid waste is as much as10million, which is accounting for1/3of the total amount of chemical waste in our country. At present, most companies use a small part of such kind of waste as cement additives and brick or for the election of iron. They stack the waste outside, which does not only occupy a large amount of land, but it also will produce different content heavy metal such as Cu、Cd、Pb、Zn、Ni、Cr and As because of different resources and productions. The waste wich is rich in heavy metal will produce harm elements once it contacts with kinds of liquid in nature.And the ham elements will mix with each other and turn to be Leaching Solution full of heavy metal.If the toxic substances of Leaching Solution enter the environment, it will pollute the soil and groundwater directly. And there has not have any system reports about the type of sulfuric acid residue until now in and abroad.This paper collects related literatures and researches the present situation in and abroad in order to know the characteristic of the production of sulfuric acid and have a better understanding of its’process type, number of enterprises, the scale of production, number of waste, and status of disposal technology. This can confirm the main generating links, generation, pollution characteristics of sulfuric acid residue of our country. This paper collects18waste samples from11large enterprises which produce sulfuric acid from six provinces. It extracts the heavy metal out of the residue through adapting the acetate buffer solution method. Then it researches the leaching toxic from different processes and resources of making acid, and analyzes the regulation of waste leaching characteristics of heavy metal from overall and comprehensive comparison.According to the results of analyzing, the number of Cu、Cd、Pb、Cr、Ni in Leaching Solution of three kinds of sulfuric acid residue is beyond leaching toxic concentration limit, and the number of Cu、Zn、Cd、Pb、Cr、 Ni is beyond integrated waste water discharge standard limits.Among the18waste samples, No.2is lead cake, No.4is arsenic cake, No.6and No.11is pyrite cinder, No.18is hazardous waste of leaching toxic; No.15is gypsum waste as Class Ⅰ general solid waste; No.1is pyrite cinder, No.3is gypsum waste, No.5is neutralize residue, No.7is pyrite cinder, No.8is pyrite cinder, No.9is sulfur melting slag, No.10is sulfur melting slag, No.12is pyrite cinder, No.13is pyrite cinder, No.14is pyrite cinder, No.15is gypsum waste, No.16is pyrite cinder, No.17is gypsum waste, all of them are Class Ⅱ general solid waste.This paper gets involved of many aspects of sulfuric acid residue, it includes the chemical composition, properties defined, environmental management, utilization and handling and disposal, and it gives system suggestions to provide some scientific basis for department of decision-making and management.
