Catalytic hydrogenation is a very important class of reduction reactions and because of its good hydrogenation performance, high product yield, less byproducts, environmentally friendly features is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. The key factor of catalytic hydrogenation is the hydrogenation catalyst which mainly includes nickel catalyst and precious metal catalyst in two categories at home and abroad, while the nickel catalyst for its low price and good catalytic activity and other advantages makes it become a very promising development hydrogenation catalyst in the industry. ZrO2 is a kind of important functional materials, when it is used as a catalyst support, it has high thermal stability, non-toxic and non-polluting, can interact with the active ingredient, etc. According to the relevant literatures, tetragonal ZrO2 as a catalyst support shows better catalytic activity than other ZrO2 crystal phases in many catalytic reactions. In this paper, we will prepare a series of Ni/ ZrO2 catalysts in which the catalyst support are mainly composed of tetragonal ZrO2, major work was as follows:In this work, we prepared a series of Ni/ ZrO2 catalysts respectively with hydrothermal method and impregnation method, and selected the benzene hydrogenation to cyclohexane as a hydrogenation probe reaction to evaluate the catalytic activity of our catalysts, examine the impact of hydrogenation performance with different preparation methods and different Ni loading. The results showed that, 15%Ni loading is the best, the 15%NZ-h which was prepared with hydrothermal showed the highest catalytic activity. The structure and properties of these catalysts were characterized by XRD、BET、H2-TPR、H2-TPD、TEM, etc. The results showed that, compare with other catalysts, 15%NZ-h has a larger specific surface area and a smaller particle size and other features. We use the 15%NZ-h into the p-nitrophenol reduction of p-aminophenol, p-aminophenol is an important pharmaceutical intermediates which is mainly used to produce paracetamol. 15%NZ-h in this reaction shows a higher catalytic activity than Raney Ni and has a higher TON. In addition, we made a thermodynamic study of In addition to this reaction, the results showed that the Ea is 11.13kJ/mol, is a low value.
