Sludges, especially smelting wastewater sludge, containing heavy metal increase day by day with the intensify for water treatment in China, and it not only destroy the ecological but also waste precious metal resources when improper handled. Electrokinetic remediation refers to the contaminants migrated out from contaminated soils when a direct-current electric field is imposed on the contaminated soil. This method is a promising in-situ remediation technology and could remove most of the metal ions in contaminate soil or sludge.pH=6 sulfuric acid pre-acidification sludge and sludge residue has been determined as the main research object of electric repair by analyzing the properties of sludge such as the sludge viscosity, cation exchange capacity (CEC), Zeta potential, element content and phase composition. Therefore developed the electrochemical equipment on pH controlled of catholyte for the problem of acid consumption and secondary pollution during the pH controlled of catholyte and developed the ions strengthening equipment for the problem of heavy metal ions which migration in sludge pore fluid hindered.The electrochemical equipment on pH controlled of catholyte was applied to electrokinetic remediation to dispose sludge and acidified sludge, the results showed that the removal rate of heavy metals of Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr Zn and Fe in acidified sludge were 23.32%,54.55%,13.19%,14.29%,69.16%,16.15% respectively when the electrochemical equipment on pH controlled of catholyte was used in electrokinetic remediation.The ions strengthening equipment was applied to electrokinetic remediation to dispose acidified sludge. The results shows that the removal rate of Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr, Zn and Fe were 24.72%,69.09%,15.17%,72.39%,16.49% respectively when strengthening migrate equipment was used in electrokinetic(EK); the removal rate of Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr, Zn and Fe were 33.14%,82.6%,11.6%,70.4%,86.1% respectively when strengthening migrate equipment was used in electrokinetic combined with activated carbon adsorb(EK-AC). Eventually, the SE-EK-AC had been determine the suitable technology and apparatus in handling this sludge.Several main factors that SE-EK-AG technology disposed sludge leaching residue were studied. For most metals, the larger voltage gradient, the greater the cathode electrolyte pH value is smaller, the bigger moisture content of sludge residue, the greater the electric removal rate of heavy metals in sludge leaching residue within a certain range. The results showed that the removal rate of Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr, Zn and Fe in sludge leaching residue were 17.25%,10.48%,1.43%,39.05%,10.95%,12.35% when electric voltage was 32V, moisture content was 80%, initial pH values of catholyte was 2 and worked five days.On the basis of experimental study, the mechanism of electrochemical equipment on pH controlled of catholyte and ions strengthening equipment how to improve the removal rate of heavy metal were researched by analyzing cation exchange equation and model, the mathematical expression of the electricmigration and electrooosmosis and morphology analysis of acidified sludge before and after disposed by electrokinetic.
