For the model unfilling problem of the steel valve billet produced by Kunming Iron&Steel Holding Co.,Ltd, this page proposed to use the Element Free Galerkin Method (EFGM) to simulate the hot forging process of the steel valve billet, in order to find the reason of the problem, provide a theoretical to improving the quality of the steel valve billet.Compared to the casting, the billet produced by hot forging has high mechanical properties. But the forging forming process is complex, analysis the process is more difficult. Nowadays, the finite element method (FEM) simulation technology has been largely applied in metal plastic forming simulation. When the deformation of the workpiece increases, the finite element mesh will be distortion, the calculation precision is not accurate enough. In order to solve the defects of large deformation, the scholars have put forward the meshless method which was a new method for numerical simulation. This paper had researched the theory of meshless method and used the meshless method into the forging forming simulation. The main contents are as follows.Firstly, this paper introduced the advances in the study and application of meshless methods in metal forming, summarized some advantages and disadvantages of meshless methods and expounded the encounter difficulties in the study.Secondly, this paper studied the basic theory of meshless method, and analyzed the selection way of the weight function and the shape function. Introduced the calculation steps of meshless method with a simple numerical example. The research was show that the result of EFGM is same as FEM.Thirdly, this paper put EFGM into elastic-plastic theory, established the three dimensional elastic-plastic EFGM method. And compared the experimental data with the simulation data of the cold forming steel ball to verify the correctness of the three dimensional elastic-plastic analysis model of EFGM.Finally, this paper established the steel valve billet hot forging forming model, and used the FEM to simulate the forming process, this paper analyzed the parts, process and mold three aspects, after changing the mold parameter, the blank can fill mold. When compared FEM and EFGM, it is shown that two methods also can fit the actual situation. But when face the large deformation the calculation accuracy of EFGM would be improved, and the FEM would be reduced. Compared with the actual data, found that the EFGM simulation data are more close to the actual data.According to the above research, it provides an efficient path for model unfilling problem of the steel valve billet.
