As we all know,if the seam tracking accuracy of the strip galvanizing line is too low, it will cause serious production waste,which is not conducive to control costs. The involves galvanizing line of this thesis is the 508th unit of "Xin Ri Auto Sheet Co., Ltd. of Baosteel Group", due to the construction time is a little earlier, the seam tracking device is very backward, the advanced modern seam tracking system can not be applied. To this end, we need to combine the craft of the galvanizing production line to establish a mathematical model of the seam tracking, to achieve the accurate prediction of the position of the seam.Based on the analysis of many factors which influence the length of the strip, we obtained that the main influencing factors of the strip elongation are the speed and tension. Based on the collation and analysis of the field data, we established a mathematical model of seam tracking accuracy by using the method of GA-BP neural network. Finally, we have done a simulation of the model by MATLAB.After extensive field data validation, we can say that the model succeeded in improving the accuracy of seam tracking of unit 508, and has the characteristics of stable and reliable operation. It will save a lot of manpower, material and financial resources if applied to production practice, and achieve good economic and social benefits.
