Cationic polyacrylamide polymer as an efficient polymer flocculant is widely used in the field of water treatment both at home and abroad. But with the increasing complexity of sewage and the higher standard of emission, looking for a method which can improve the performance of flocculant is of great important.This paper treats cationic polyacrylamide polymer with hydrophobic modification to improve the effect. Details are as follows:adding dodecyl-dimethyl-(3-methacrylamide-yl) propyl bromide (DMPC12) on acrylamide (AM) with acryloyloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (DAC) cationic components as hydrophobic component. By mean of aqueous radical polymerization, polyacrylamide hydrophobically modified is synthesized as novel terpolymers cationic. The main works is as follows:1. Synthetic surfactivity monomerN-(3-dimethylamino) propyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and bromododecane by quaternary pressing reaction, to obtain a white powdery sample preparation, characterization by IR analysis confirmed that the sample was a target product dodecyl-dimethyl-(3-methacrylamide-yl) propyl bromide (DMPC12).2. Synthetic hydrophobically modified cationic polyacrylamideBy aqueous radical polymerization and using photo initiator and thermal initiator make Polymerization terpolymer P (AM-DAC-DMPC12). Investigate the effects of polymerization process parameters on polymerization reaction, such as monomer concentration, the choice and the amount of initiator and the number of hydrophobic monomer the polymerization process parameters on the polymerization. The experimental study, at a polymerization initiation temperature of 10℃, the total monomer concentration is 30wt%, photoinitiator 184 is 25ppm, thermal initiators AIBA is 20ppm, a hydrophobic monomer molar content of 0.5%, can be synthesiaed the relative molecular weight reached 10 million, water insoluble less than 0.2%, a residual monomer content of less than 500ppm. Characterization by IR analysis confirmed the sample for the target product P (AM-DAC-DMPC12) that hydrophobically modified cationic polyacrylamide flocculate.3. Application of oily wastewater treatmentInvestigate the effects of flocculation, such as relative molecular weight, hydrophobic monomer molar content and cationic monomer molar content and flocculate dosage. CENOVUS ENERGY Company for wastewater flocculation studies in molecular weight 10.5 million, a hydrophobic monomer molar content of 0.5%, cationic monomer molar content of 30%, the dosage is 35mg-L-1, the sewage treatment works best oil removal rate reached 95.1%, CODcr removal rate reached 94.7%, compared with Beijing Henju Chemical Group Corporation cationic polyacrylamide flocculant CPAM, oil removal rate increased by 8%, CODCr removal rate increased by 9%.By introducing a hydrophobic side chain, the terpolymer is added a special hydrophobic association effect under the base of cationic polyacrylamide flocculant. In consequence of increasing its capacity of flocculation on organic matters, the effect of flocculation is optimized, the mount of flocculation is reduced and the cost is saving.
