Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) are a class anionic clays material whose structure is hydrotalcite-like compounds. According to its unique structure and properties, Mg/Al-LDHs provide great potential use in flame retardant field.In this work, novel LDHs composite are prepared being doped, loaded and intercalated assembly. The structure, morphology and flame retardant of LDHs are also investigated.(1) Eu3+ ions as a sensitive structural probe have been used to detect the phase transition of Mg/Al-layer Double Hydroxide (Mg/Al-LDH). Following, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the regular plate-like particle of Mg/Al-LDH has been ruined when the Eu/(Al+Eu) atomic ratio is up to 0.06. Typically, the relationship between the phase transformation and fluorescence properties of Mg/Al-LDH doping with Eu3+ discussed in details. The new crystal structure of cubic MgO and MgAl2O4 has been shaped.(2) The TiO2 is loaded on the surface of the magnesium aluminum carbonate iron LDH surface by the sol-gel method, preparated different mass ratio of TiO2 / LDH compounds. These composite have excellent fire retardancy properties and ultraviolet performance. The LOI value of EVA with TiO2-0.5% /LDH compounds is up to 27. After 10 days of UV-light, the retention of tensile strength up to 82%.(3) The SDS structure-intercalated LDH is synthesized using urea hydrothermal method. The influence of modification conditions and complex ratio on the flame retardant properties of materials was investigated. Typically, the LOI value of the composite materials is up to 29 and the tensile strength is 22.32 MPa.
