In this paper, silicon magnesium material were synthetized by using sodium silicate, magnesium salts, aluminum sulfate and glucose through precipitation and hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometer, FTER spectrometers, thermogravimetry and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The adsorption performance of silicon magnesium material adsorbed β-carotene and methylene blue was studied.Magnesium silicate@C was synthetized by using glucose as carbon source through hydrothermal method at 180℃.Modified flocculation magnesium silicate is prepared by a hydrothermal process at 120℃ for 18 h after adding Al2(SO4)3 into the magnesium silicate gel. Compared with standard magnesium silicate 328.116 m2·g-1, this modified magnesium silicate has a bigger BET surface areas of 536.803 m2·g-1 and a lower interlayer water. Modified magnesium silicate exhibits high (3-carotene adsorption with a maximum adsorption capacity of 364.96 mg·g-1. It is shown that when suspended in organic solvent, this material is an effective carotenoid separator. Furthermore, our results suggest that modified magnesium silicate may be a promising candidate as an absorbent in the decoloring process of oil.Magnesium aluminum silicate (MAS) have been prepared via different adding order of materials (Na2SiO3, MgSO4, Al2(SO4)3), and the physical-chemical properties of the products are determined. The investigation indicated that raw materials adding order made little influence on structure, crystalline nature, thermal stability but the specific surface area of the sample. Among them, MAS-2 has larger surface area (221.26 m2·g-1) than other samples. The methylene blue (MB) sorption performance of the adsorbent is studied and the results showed that the maximum capacity of MAS-1, MAS-2, MAS-3, MAS-4, MAS-5 and MAS-6 is 100.705,127.065,95.785,84.388, 93.283 and 67.613 mg·g-1 respectively, which has a close relationship with the surface area of adsorbent. Meanwhile, the adsorption process of MB can be well described by Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetics on the six materials. The present study has shown that the preparation process of magnesium aluminum silicate exert a certain influence on the physical-chemical properties and the material has a high capacity in sequestering MB from aqueous environment.
