Roller is the important equipment components in the process of strip steel plate rolling, is also one of the main consumption parts of rolling production. Roll wear is inevitable in the process of plate rolling so that the roll must be changed frequently and be grinded offline in order to meet the requirements about the quality and plate shape of the product. But it is bound to reduce the production efficiency.Therefore, the technology of on-line roll grinding rises in response to the proper time and conditions. It can greatly improve the efficiency of the steel production, so it has become one of the key new technology research and development at home and abroad. While the on-line measurement of roll wear with high precision is the key to realize on-line roll grinding technology.So the research on roll wear on-line accurate testing technology is the urgent need in the field of rolling technology. According to the severe detection environment and the low measurement precision, a new method of non-contact on-line measurement for testing roller wears based on the effect of laser self-mixing interference was proposed in this thesis.By investigating the principle and project of roller wear testing based on the laser self-mixing interference a roll ware detection system is devised by this thesis. This system mainly consists of the self-mixing interference displacement detector, the roller wear detection device and the signal processing module. The wearing capacity of the roll can be translated into micro displacement by using this self-mixing interference displacement detector.In this thesis, the error analysis and compensation theory of roll wear on-line detection are studied. To reduce the environmental noise in the result of the test an adaptive filter based on LMS for noise cancellation is proposed.The feasibility of this method is validated by the simulation analysis and the result show that the method can effectively reduce background noise in the useful signal.The filtering method base on the wavelet analysis is used to smooth the SMI signal. and the phase unwrapping method is used to extract phase.In addition, it used the interpolation method to reduce the relative motion between the roll and the testing device to improve the test resolution and accuracy.Under laboratory conditions, we build a test platform of the roll wear detection system based on the measuring principle of laser self-mixing interference to verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this thesis.
