There were a number of small coal mines in the mining boundary of range of Pingshuo Dong mine. Because of these small mines long disorderly exploitation, no filling mining, the rich abandoning the poor and other phenomena, there existed a large number of goaf in the realm of Pingshuo Dong surface mining. And the majority of the goaf no location, size and other specific information they created a great deal of hidden safe and efficient production of surface mine. Paper took Pingshuo Dong surface mine goaf for the study, for goaf getecting,calculation of safety thickness of rock upon goaf and research on integration of goaf treatment and mining.Thesis analyzed goaf detecting common method works, the advantages and disadvantages as well as the scope and considering of the actual situation of Pingshuo Dong surface mine, drew detection process of Pingshuo Dong surface mine. Thesis by analyzing the relevant data, sorted out the overburden thickness to calculate the required safety parameters to calculate the goaf. On this basis, through a variety of different theoretical methods and numerical simulation and by comprehensive analysis it obtained reasonable safety thickness of rock upon goaf. Finally, by the analysis of unique features of goaf in the realm of surface mine, combined with the actual production of surface mine, it obtained goaf treatment principles. Depending on the type of goaf, it proposed different treatment methods. On this basis, it proposed the integration of treatment and mining and came out the process of mining treatment. As the actual situation of Pingshuo Dong surface mine, it proposed security measures of surface mine crossing over goaf.
