Genetically Modified Organism is a kind of crops with better quality by genetic engineering using inserting target gene segment. In 1996, the genetically modified crops include soybean, maize, rape, potato and tomato were commercialized producted and saled in American. There are 40 kinds of genetically modified crops approved by FDA. But the commercial cultivation of genetically modified(GM) crops was not approved by China. In 2005, the absence of the unauthorised genetically modified rice Bt 63 in products were deceted originating in or consigned from China, Commission Decision 2008/289/EC( 3) was adopted which introduced emergency measures regarding the unauthorised GMO Bt 63 in rice products. That Decision required that prior to placing on the market, operators should submit an analytical report to the relevant Member State competent authorities demonstrating that the consignment of rice products was not contaminated with genetically modified rice Bt 63. Additionally, that Decision provided for Member States to take appropriate measures, including random sampling and analysis carried out using a specific method described therein, concerning products presented for importation or already on the market. The Decesion 2011/884/EU was proposed by European Union to instead of 2008/289/EC,with appropriate to extend the scope of measures provided for by Decision 2008/289/EC, which is limited to genetically modified rice Bt 63, and to broaden it to all genetically modified organisms found in rice products originating in or consigned from China. It leaded to rejection, saleds return and avoidance of contract to spawn a great number of economic losses from China. In order to have a management of Genetically Modified crops, it is important to establish the tracing ability of Genetically Modified crops on the basis of optimized VI detects of Genetically Modified crops.EAN·UCC system was proposed by Globe Standard institute with the name changed to Globe Standard 1. The UCC/EAN-128 bar code was a special code proposed by GS institute. The information about 8 important points of genetically modified crops including the planting origin, products category, harvesting, processing, packaging, stocking, transporting and selling stages was coded with the rules of UCC/EAN-128 bar code. As the examples of genetically modified cotton, cottonseed oil, cottonseed, non-genetically modified rice and its products, the UCC/EAN-128 bar codes were shown to introduce. This study introduced tracing of genetically modified crops by UCC/EAN-128 bar code which was designed for eight sections including the planting origin, products category, harvesting, processing, packaging, stocking, transporting and selling stages. Takeing genetically modified cotton and non-genetically modified rice as example, the UCC/EAN-128 bar codes were designed and decoded. To establish the condition of genetically modified(GM) products in China, the bar codes about the genetically modified cotton and cottonseed oil and cottonseed meal from the six sections including the planting origin, products, processing, transportation was designed and encoded in this paper. The bar codes from the five sections were integrated to form the whole UCC/EAN-128 bar code. And the label of the genetically modified products was identified, based on the identification measures for the administration of agricultural genetically modified organisms. Combined with UCC/EAN-128 bar code and identification for the genetically modified organisms, the genetically modified products could be traced. This study can provide the technical support for genetically modified products administration and supervision. To guarantee the non-genetically modified rice and rice product quality, this study established a traceability system and set up critical control points at cultivation, harvest, milling, processing, storage and packaging. UCC/EAN-128 code was applied to encode collected information from each critical point to guarantee the crops with non-GM ingredients. Once the product was detect the genetically modified ingredients, VII the superintendent could get the information about the rice seed, cultivating, harvesting date, processing, packaging, stocking and find the contaminated points to realize the tracing ability of Genetically Modified crops. The UCC/EAN-128 bar code could be attached as label with its low price and easily popularization. To make a comprehensive evaluation of SYBR Green real-time PCR, this study collected 76 rice and rice products from 6 countries and regions to evaluate the methods proposed by Decision 2011/884/EU. According to EU GMO detection, 76 samples were detected by instrument, reagent and program proposed by 2011/884 EU. Different methods(2008/889EC), reagents(Fast SYBR Green Mix) and instruments(Viia 7 real-time PCR system) were applied for paralleled detection. Positive samples were tested again, the results analyzed statistically between different methods reagents and instruments by different kinds, reagents, instruments and methods. The 18 samples(23.68%) presented the positive result for reinspection by SYBR Green real-time PCR proposed by Decision 2011/884/EU. However, the results were shown 4 positive results(5.26%) by 2011/884/EU Duplex Taq Man method and 2008/289/EC Taq Man method. None GM cotton(80, 82) was also presented by 2011/884/EU SYBR Green method. Conclusion: The SYBR Green real-time PCR proposed by 2011/884/EU had obvious disparity with the results detected by Duplex Taq Man real-time PCR proposed by 2011/884/EU or the results obtained by 2008/889/EC. With the characteristic of SYBR Green itself, the non-specific may due to the lack of positive, samples in evaluation experiments, the choose of maize as positive controls. The method was detected non-specific. This method should be ameliorated to improve the specific or edged out by other detection. This study established the framework of the UCC/EAN-128 code with the key information of the genetically modified crops and non-genetically modified crops. According to the framework of the UCC/EAN-128 code, the genetically modified crops were encoded to data from each area. At present, there is no research concerned of UCC/EAN-128 code of the genetically modified agricultural products. This subject provided the basis for the subsequent research about UCC/EAN-128 code of the genetically modified crops and evaluated the European Union detects of genetically modified rice to provide the reference frame.
