Gas hydrate technology can be contributed to many fields, such as natural gas storage and transportation, carbon dioxide capture and sequestration, seawater desalination, mixture gas separation and cold storage in the form of hydrate. However, hydrate would also grow up in gas and oil industries, while all of these things have close relationship with the growth of hydrate, leading to study the growth of hydrate using any equipment or apparatus in many lab. In this paper, using the microscope and imaging system to research the growth of tetrahydrofuran(THF) hydrate in the presence of quartz sand and copper wire and the growth of hydrate film.Firstly, In this article, we used different silica sand with different size(60-80 mesh and 80-120mesh),performed a series of experiments on hydrate growth in the presence of silica sand at different temperature. The results showed that the lower the temperature the greater the hydrate growth rate and the silica sand moved when hydrate grew within a certain size. When the particle size is within 80-120 mesh, the hydrate growth rate is between 0.062 and 0.136 μm/s; when the particle size is within 60-80 mesh, the hydrate growth rate is between 0.936-1.408 μm/s.Secondly, we studied the hydrate growth process with or not copper screen and with different medium on both sides of copper screen. results showed that hydrate grew faster in presence of copper screen, it was different from morphology of hydrate growth with different medium on both sides of copper wire. Hydrate grew in polyhedron without copper screen at-8.5℃,the average rate was 11.72 μm/s, the biggest growth rate was 17.75 μm/s; hydrate grew in layer in the copper wire at-3.5℃, the average rate was 11.42 μm/s. Morphology of hydrate growth was fan-shaped along the copper screen in the side of the vertical copper screen, while morphology of hydrate being away from copper screen was sheet, the biggest growth rate was 19.30 μm/s along the copper screen; when the side of wire was ice and THF solution respectively, Morphology of hydrate growth was in wave, the biggest growth rate was 2.36 μm/s; When THF solution and water was dropped on both sides of copper screen where the fan-shaped hydrate crystal was formed, the biggest grow rate was 25.80 μm/s.Finally, we observed the hydrate film growing process. The results showed that when the hydrate was growing, the smallest hydrate crystal was 40μm; besides, we observed hydrate grew on both sides of hydrate film when dropped solution on one side.
