Salt rock is a kind of soft rock, with co mpact structure, low porosity, large plastic deformation capacity, very low permeability, good creep behavior and the damage character such as self-healing,it is internationally recognized as the oil and gas caverns and radioactive waste dispo sal. Salt ro ck in China, however, has w eak intercalation sand different characteristics of the single thin lay ers. So we can’t draw lessons from experience of other countries, and the difficulty is to certain extent increased in the research. In this paper, combining with the results of previous scholars, damage is taken into consideration; the creep damage coupling and the stability of the salt rock cavern are studied.(1) From the triax ial creep da mage tests, it is seen that the creep dam age characteristics of salt rock includes th e formation of steady-state creep dam age characteristics and the accelerated creep damage characteristics.(2) For the study of long-term stability of rock salt sim ulation, We take the use of model of PWIPP and userc_d to S imulation analysis, and find that the rock salt has the similar performance at stress d istribution deformation of the p lastic damage area, etc. However the result bas ed on the model of userc_d has significan t damage accelerated boundaries.(3) Salt cavern under dynam ic loads presented an obvious phenom enon of stress redistribution regularly, and the middle of the cavity tend to be tensile failure, and the top and bottom of cavity tend to be shear failure. In this paper, for long-term stability of the cavity combined with previous studies, By comparing the perform ance of Salt cavern using the m odel of userc_d and PWIPP to simulation,I came of the quantitative analysis of the stability of the Salt cavern, and do some research of the performance of Salt cavern under dynamic loads.
