With the development of the modern society, more and more attention is focused on the environmental problem.Cenospheres is one of the three “Industrial Wastes”, as main resource of environmental pollution. The recycling of cenospheres is hotly debated in the key issues. In this paper, a new type of palladium-free and pulltion-free iron activator is used to modify the cenospheres instead of the traditional palladium one. The new activator is of less polltion,simplified process, with promotion of Ag- and Fecoating on surface of the cenospheres.Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), high precision apparatus for measuring specific surface area and pore size, XRD is introduced to characterize the sample. Meanwhile, the antibacterial properties of Ag-coated cenospheres are discussed, the conclusions are as follows:(1)SEM photos show that the particles size of cenospheres is between 1-10 μm, the orginial sample is not uniform, containing a lot of irregular impurities. After activation some needle-like particles can be seen on the surface of the cenospheres, forming a corrugated shape. BET tests show that specific surface area of activated cenospheres increase from 0.9178m2 g-1 to 17.894m2 g-1. According to XRD data,Fe occupy a very low ratio in cenospheres without activation before treatment,while after activation iron oxide can be seen from XRD. The iron-activator is successfully coated on the surface of cenospheres. Effect of iron-series activator is best with p H value 3.3, feeding of activator is helpful to the activation within certain range, but higher feeding is inhibition on activation effect.(2)During deposition, loading amount of silver-ammonia solution has great influence on coating, SEM data show that Ag is point-shaped while loading small amount of silver-ammonia solution,loading more solution,even and uniformed Ag-coating is precipitated on the surface of cenospheres,XRD data show Ag(111),(200),(220) and(311) crystal plane.Ag-coated cenospheres are prepared.(3)The antibacterial property of Ag-coated cenospheres is affected by content of silver on the cenospheres. it increases within certain range with the increase of Ag content,higher content may bring inhibition.(4)XRD and magnetic test of Fe-coated cenospheres indicate that Fe3O4 coating is precipitated on the surface of cenospheres, magnetic particles are prepared.
