Magnetic core-shell nano catalysts have unique feature and advantages. The large magnetism makes it easy to separate benefiting the recycling of the catalyst; inorganic materials and polymer which have larger specific surface area could be coated onto the surface of the magnetic core, contributing to the dispersion of the active conponent and further improving the activity. Pt, Pd, Rh et al. noble metals are usually used in the magnetic core-shell nano catalysts which increased the cost, and limited its applycation in indurstry.Firstly, a magnetic mesoporous core-shell nano catalyst Fe3O4@n Si O2@m Si O2@Ni-Co-B was prepared by the combination of a modified St?ber sol-gel process, a surfactant-templating method and selfassembly. The m Si O2 shell have larger specific surface area and pore volume, contributing to the dispersion of Ni-Co-B and resulting in the higher activity in the hydrogenation of cinnamic acid than Fe3O4@n Si O2@Ni-Co-B and Ni-Co-B; moreover, it can be easily separated by a magnet after reaction and recycled effectively five times.Then, m Si O2 was replaced by Zr O2 to prerare Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2@Ni-Co-B by the combination of St?ber sol-gel process and selfassembly. The preparation of Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2 is simple without removing the template, and it can be easily separated by a magnet after reaction and recycled effectively seven times which showed better stability than Fe3O4@n Si O2@m Si O2@Ni-Co-B due to the stronger interaction between Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2 and Ni-Co-B.Finally, the prearation efficiency of Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2 was enhanced after improving the preparation process. Then Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2@Ni-B was prepared with multi-shell structure. Moreover, the applycation of Fe3O4@Si O2@Zr O2@Ni-B in the selective hydrogenation of citral to citronellal was explored preliminarily, and showed good performance.
