High volume fraction Si Cp/Al composites is wide applied in the aerospace, electric packaging and rail transit fields. However, the high volume fraction Si Cp/Al composites shows a greater brittleness so that it has poor processability and machining efficiency for the conventional cutting. Through local heating of the hard-cutting materials, without changing the overall features of the material, laser hot-assisted cutting is an effective method to reduce the tool wear and improve the processability and machining efficiency. Based on the laser hot-assisted cutting technology, thermal field simulation and experimental investigation of 45%Si Cp/Al composites are reasearched. The concrete research contents include the following several aspects:Firstly, the thermal field mathematical model and finite element model of laser hot-assisted cutting 45%Si Cp/Al composites are established. The validity of the simulation model is verified by comparing the simulation and experimental results of the measuring temperature obtained by the infrared thermometer. The semiconductor laser(wavelength 1048nm) absorptivity of 45%Si Cp/Al composites is obtained. Based on the models established above, then we studies the cutting lay’s temperature distribution and the law of radial temperature distribution of the workpiece under different processing parameters.Secondly, based on the results of thermal field simulation and the selection criteria of the semi-finishing cutting parameter, reasonable test parameters are selected. Establish laser hot-assisted cutting test system. By comparing laser-assisted machining and conventional machining, the influence law of machining parameters on the cutting force is analyzed. The service life of the cutter and the reason for the rapid wear under different cutting speed are studied.Thirdly, the influence of processing parameters on the surface roughness in the process of laser hot-assisted cutting of the 45%Si Cp/Al composites is researched. By comparing laser-assisted machining and conventional machining, the deformation laws of chip, including chip morphology and chip deformation coefficient, are studied. According to the features of the composite material, the formation process of cutting surface is explored and the causes of "iron out" phenomenon on the machined surface is analyzed. The influence of the different processing parameters on the surface roughness is analyzed by contrast with the conventional machining.
