Zn O can be applied to numerous areas for its unique physic and chemistry properties, especially in the kingdom of photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants,which closely related to human health. So it is of critical importance to improve the photocatalytic properties of semiconductor Zn O. Different morphologies of Zn O present the different performance. surface modification and doping will also change its properties. By these ways, the photocatalytic properties of structured Zn O can be improved.The hydrothermal method was adopted to synthesis Zn O with different morphologies by controlling the reaction time, temperature, and concentration. Result shows that the urchin-like Zn O can be obtained under the reaction conditions of T = 100 ℃, t = 12 h, and ion concentration ratio Zn2+:OH- = 1:30. Diffuse Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrometer is adopted to test the absorption spectrums of Zn O with different morphologies. The absorption edge of urchin-like and flower-like Zn O present a significant red-shift, which means that the utilization efficiency of visible light is improved. Photocatalytic experiment indicates that the structured urchin-like and flower-like Zn O own better photocatalytic properties.The surface of urchin-like Zn O is modified by Ag nanoparticles through wet chemical and light induction method. The Zn O/Ag composite is successfully synthesized. UV-Vis test shows that the absorption edge of Zn O/Ag composite shifts to red range, meanwhile, a absorption peak exists in the range of 450-500 nm, which is contributed by surface plasmon resonances of nano Ag. The modification of Ag further improves its utilization efficiency of visible light, and elevates the photocatalytic properties of materials.(Zn Agx)O1-δ(x = 0.01%, 0.04%, 0.1%)composites are synthesized by hydrothermal method. Pure(Zn Ag0.01%)O1-δ materials is obtained when the amount of Ag doping is 0.01%. It means that all the Ag atoms solved into the Zn O crystal structure. Results show that the synthesized(Zn Ag0.01%)O1-δ materials have uniform size and good morphology. Research indicate that Ag doping can control the growth of Zn O efficiently. And this composites have best photocatalytic properties.
