Interface adsorption is a kind of mass transfer process. It is the basis of separation orpurification mixture and has a wide range of applications in the chemical industry, oilprocessing industry, agriculture, medicine industry, environmental protection and other fields. At present, most of scholars research the interface adsorption phenomenon through threemeans, respectively, adsorption dynamics theory, adsorption thermodynamics theory andcapillary condensation theory. But the latter two methods have more complex calculate andtheir application range is narrow. Cannot describe the mechanism of interface adsorptionaccurately. However, the thermodynamics method is an important tool for the study ofinterface phenomena. Therefore, if we can use the thermodynamics point to explore theprocess of adsorption, it will provide certain theoretical guidance in the engineering design forindustry, research and other practical application. There are several factors affecting surface adsorption, for example, temperature, pressure, amount of substance, concentration, and field, such as magnetic field, electric field andelectromagnetic field and so on. As a new type of strengthening mass transfer technology, because of its advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, easy to control and no pollution, electric field is widely used in various fields of industrial production. But, present research aremainly at the experimental stage. So researching on interface adsorption under the electricfield will provide effective theoretical description of the inter-facial properties. From the perspective of thermodynamics, therefore, this paper chose Gibbs adsorptionmodel as research object, and discussed the interface phase by combining energy axiom andthe first law of thermodynamics. Interface adsorption theory expression andmathematical relationship of surface tension and electric field under external electric field arededuced by this method. And, this paper got the linear relation between surface tension andthe square of the electric field intensity from experimental data.. According to the interfaceadsorption theory formula, we respectively calculate Ethanol solution interface adsorptionquantity under the different electric field intensity and different concentration. The calculationresults show that: with the increase of concentration, interface adsorption quantity increases. When applying an electric field, the solution interface adsorption quantity decreased.Thistheory can describe interface adsorption mechanism from the perspective of thermodynamics, and can be reasonably explained the influence of electric field on the interface adsorption.Furthermore, it provides certain theoretical guidance for the research and design and hasimportant application value in the chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, etc.
