In this paper the laser enhancement mechanism of ceramics and cemented carbide tool was investigated. First, the laser enhancement technology and mechanism of S13N4 ceramics tool was approached: the surface hardness of S13N4 cutting edge have been enhanced though there are some flaw; the influenoe regularity of laser parameter on the fissure occurrence was discussed; the flaw producing cause was analyzed and some measure to decrease the flaw was held out; a set of optimum laser parameter was drawn. Then, the research on laser enhance YG8 cemented carbide tool shows that the surface hardness have been greatly raised after laser handling; the macro feature and microstructure was deeply analyzes by means of surface micro hardness..micrography and xay diffraction; the laser enhancement technology and mechanism of YG8 cemented carbide tool was studies.
