With the rapidly development of the computer technology,computer-aided design has been applied widely in foundry technique. The calculation of casting module,casting weight and the advanced design of riser are the important components in the technique design. However,in the past-developed software-package about foundry technique,the calculation methods of casting weight and module were not very correct and the weights of many complex castings were calculated not through the theory calculation,but through the experience of foundry men. Accordingly,the effect of riser design could not be revised though the numerical simulation. In order to solve these questions which are mentioned above,an integration system which is about the casting technique design has been developed.About the calculation of casting weight and module,in this paper,the castings are divided three styles:standard castings used usually castings and complex castings. Different methods have been adopted according to different castings. The interface of system is so simple that the operation people may used it easily.In advanced design of riser,the author has adopted two methods in this paper,one is the method of modification cubic equation which has absorbed the advantages of the method of Ruddle cubic equation and the method of Johns shrinkage cavity shape,the other is the method of heat node circle which came from the experience.In this paper,the casting drawing can be enmeshed automatically by means of the technique of using VB to develop the ActiveX technique of AutoCAD R14. So,the geometric information can be converted to a computation code of some sorts.The A.D.E explicit method of the finite difference has been used to do the numerical simulation of heat transfer under rectangular coordinate and cylindrical coordinate system.Based on the computer graphics,a set of graphic processing software has been developed which can display distinctly the temperature distribution of any calculation time with continuous transitional colors,draw the solidification processing curve,draw cooling curve and print the technique card and so on.
