Using Chlorella sp. isolated from wastewater entrapped in calcium alginate gel for purifYing sewage. This paper studied the purification efficiencies of ammonia -nitrogen and ortho-phosphate by immobilized algae at different algae ages (early stationary phase, late exponential phase), different cell loading (83,2 1 1,70 land 1506 million cells/gel bead), if being starved, different N/P (5:1,10: 1,and 20:1) and different glucose concentrations (0.01 %,0. 1%, 1 %,and 0%). It also studied the changes of growth. The results shows choosing early stationary phase algae cell, 700million cells/gel bead cell loading, cell being starved, N/P being 20:land glucose concentration being 0.01%, immobilized Chlorella sp. is shown to have great potentialities for removing NH4-N and P043-P, and the rate of removing is nearly 100% in 36 hours.
