In aqueous ethanolic solution of sodium polysulfide, P-nitrotolueneis converted to p-aminobenzaldehyde. This reaction is known to be thebest route for synthesis of p-arninobenzakiehyde. Br~ the reactionm~hanism is still obscure and unconvincible In order to study Themechanism, the varia tions of materials in reaction ixture have beendetermined with mass spectroscope. It was found that a few langermolecule intermediates exist in the neaction mixture during 20?20minutes at 80C,There structares have been estimated by the data in massspectrogram. All the results that agree with our suggested expectationsprovide credible circumstantial evidences for this mechanism.
