This paper applies modified electric brushing coating process to make various anti- wear multilayer composite coating, modifies the coating pen and to be more benefit , and uses electric brushing coating process to get composite coating. Exploration has been made in coatings structure design and coating performance has been tested and studied. Surface morphology, microstructure, micro-hardness, friction and wear performances of samples have been tested and analyzed. Research and theory exploration have been made in deposition process and anti- wear mechanism of electric brushing composite coating. This process can be used to repair machine tool guide and shows great useful and economical efficiency. Some developments and conclusions are as follows: 1. Multilayer composite coatings of Ni-Cr2O3 Ni-SiC Ni-A1203.. Ni-ZrO and Ni have been made by modified electric brushing coating process. (1) Multilayer composite coating is designed and better performance is achieved. (2) Because good multilayer composite coating cannot be achieved using usual electric brushing solution and process, positive electrode coating pen is modified and various multilayer composite coatings are made by modified coating pen and electric brushing process. 2. Phase constitutes, microstructures and performances of multilayer composite coatings are tested and analyzed. (1) Phase constitutes of coatings are tested and analyzed. They are composed of basic metal Ni and composite particle, and Ni crystal grains are ultrafine. (2) The results of analysis of surface morphology of coatings show that, crystal grains of multilayer composite coatings are obviously finer than multilayer Ni coating. (3) Microstructures of multilayer composite coatings are composed of basic Ni metal and fine distributing non-metallic particles in it. They are not only have the feature of basic Ni metal, but also have the feature of non-metallic particles. Therefore, it is important to select adaptable basic metal and non-metallic particles. The performances of multilayer composite coatings are better than that of single and multilayer Ni coatings. (4) Results of micro-hardness test of coatings show that micro-hardnesses of multilayer composite coatings are higher than either single Ni coating or multilayer Ni coating in different degree. The micro-hardness of multi Ni-Cr203 is the highest. Thus, its anti-wear performance is the highest, too. (5) Multilayer composite coatings have good connective strength. (6) Slide friction and wear performances of single Ni coating, multilayer Ni coating and multilayer composite coatings have been tested and studied. Anti-wear performance of the single Ni coating is bad, multilayer composite coatings are better than either single or multilayer Ni coating, and multilayer Ni-Cr203 composite coating is the best. 3. Antiwear mechanism of multilayer composite coatings are tested and studied. (1) The wear of multilayer composite coating material is slowly occurring layer by layer in thin layer and wear-resistance is greatly improved. (2) wear-resistance of coatings can be improved by supporting load of composite particles , retardin...
