Facing the status that the low sulfur removal efficiency and the SO2 pollution of the traveling grate boilers, Using mineral material and industrial waste as additives for sulfur fixed during combustion and two-stage desulfurization technique are proposed to reach to the commercially popularize of the additives for sulfur fixation.First, the phvsical structure of mineral material and industrial waste are studied. The component, particle diameter, pore characteristics and microstructure of additives were analyzed. It is found that the surface areas and porosity of calcium vvastes were the most, and the mean particle diameter, the median particle diameter and the modal particle diameter of calcite were the most at ali. The range of particle diameter of calcite at about 62.5429i-4n or above can effectually increase its pore dimension .A best pore radius range where the surface areas and porosity is best for SOi removal was excited for every additive.The calcining characteristic was the key factor affecting desulfuration efficiency during coal combustion. The effects of atmosphere, time, temperature of calcination on hole characteristics and microstructure of additive were studied. We found that the effects of temperature on calcinations were several aspects and the rule of surface areas and porosity of additives after calcining presented hoist first and descendant then, and the surface areas and porosity of additives after calcining were best value.Using mineral material and industrial waste as additives for sulfur fixed during combustion is an effective way to save energy and reduce air pollution. The factors affecting the sulfur removal efficiency during coal combustion at high temperature are system studied and the mechanism of additives on desulfurization efFiciency during coal combustion \vas studied by analyzing the sediment of additives. The new ZDM-type additives are developed.The commercially popularize of additives was our fmal purpose. A series of identified experimentation in the industrial chain boiler indicated that the ZDM-type additive cought preferably meet the demand of environment protection. The desulfurization efficiency of ZDM added in coal was more than 40% and the desulfuration efficiency of two-stagedesulfurization technique was more than 70% at the boiler operating temperature above 1200 癈 . ZDM-type additive not only had better desulfuration but also cought decrease the capacity of NOX. The commercially popularize of additives had passed national check and accept, the technique had reached to on top at country and in advance in the world and had won second-class of national science and technology progress. In this paper, the effect of the atmosphere of chain boiler on fixed sulfur characteristic and the effect of additives on coal characters were studied.
