Carpet will have a bright future in China. The updating in carpet products should be guaranteed by more competitive functionality and antistatic carpet is a kind of function carpets which many factories give high priority to. This paper presents the spinning of antistatic yarns using friction spinning system and eventually production of antistatic cut-pile carpets, paving the way for more methods in production of carpet pile yarns. This paper also studies the effect of content percentage and distribution of conductive fibers in yarns on antistatic property of yarns, fabrics via the yarn forming mechanism of friction spinning system and testing equipment designed by author. Special efforts are made on measurement of corona discharge from textiles containing conductive fibers. The optimized results show that the content percentage and distribution of conductive fibers have effect on antistatic property of textiles. The more the conductive fibers, the lower the resistance and the easier the corona discharge. The resistance of textiles with conductive fibers lying on surface is lower than that with conductive fibers in yarn core even though the amount of conductive fibers is the same, and with corona discharge the former is easier than the later.
