The characteristics of MIM have been compared with those of plastic injection molding, and the components and rheological behavior of the feedstock of MIM have been analyzed in this paper. The equations for HELE-SHOW have been established in this paper to describe feedstock's flow in fluid -channel and die cavity. The reasonable solutions for the equations have been given. The methods and feasibilities by which the filling simulation software of plastic injection molding can be adjusted for MIM have been discussed. The analytic methods of various filling simulation software of plastic injection molding have been studied. The paper can provide the reference for the analysis of the filling simulation software of MIM.The author has used finite element analysis software to simulate the fluid channel filling. The results of the research are following. Pressure, viscosity and fluid channel design, to great content, influence injection filling. The three, however, reconcile with one another to eliminate the influence of other factors. But the simulation of the complex die cavity can not achieved because so many boundary conditions are difficult to been determined, which is a new problem in future. Now, the theory of two- phase flow and granular model have become the focus of filling simulation. In this paper some points on this subject have been discussed. Granular model can better reflect the characteristics of feedstock of MIM than continuum model. But the little essential understanding for the feedstock mold flow in MIM and the complexity of nonlinear system leads to the little development of the theory. But It will, no doubt, become an important part of the future research.
