In order to extract rubidium ion from sodium aluminate solution by ion-exchange process, ion-memory inorganic ion exchanger cryptomelane-type hydrous manganese dioxide (CRYMO) , adulterated CRYMO and rubidium doped crytomelane-type manganese dioxide were prepared. The samples were characterized by IR, XRD and TG-DTG. Its ion exchange properties to Na+ , K + Rb were studied in detail. The becoming principle in hydrothermal process and the ion exchange principle of a -MnO: were investigated. The separation effect of the samples to sodium aluminate solution were studied too.The study showed that CRYMO had higher selectivity to potassium ion and rubidium ion, its apparent ion exchange capacity to sodium ion, potassium ion and rubidium ion increased as the pH of solution increased. CRYMO were firstly adulterated by doped with rubidium ion by the hydrothermal the high temperature solid state method respectively. The selectivity to rubidium ion of the adulterated CRYMO increase, and the samples obtained by high temperature solid state method showed better separation effect.Rubidium doped crytomelane-type manganese dioxide were firstly prepared by the hydrothermal method. The study showed that samples had very high selectivity to rubidium ion. In sodium aluminate solution, Rb/K and P Rh/Na is 500 and 40 respectively. So rubidium can be separated from sodium aluminate solution with them. The samples had good properties of cycle using. So it will have application value in industrial production by using it.
