The development of high-voltage pulsed discharge used for water-treatment is fully discussed in the thesis. The principles and characteristics of electric discharge are analyzed in detail. Based on the experimental discharge data in the distilled water and indigo carmine solution ,the following conclusions are drawn.1. A new style of DBD reactor with gas bubbling is chosen as the most suitable reactor for water treatment compared with other kinds of reactors.2. Influences of structural parameters of the reactor on discoloration are studied. The optimum electrode gap is 4mm. And the most suitable configuration of electrode structure is electrode -sample - glass barrier - electrode.3. Influence of electric characteristics are studied : Removal rate of the solution colorness increases proportionally with increase of pulsed frequency, applied voltage, and the capacitance of the pulse capacitors.4. Physical and chemical parameters also play great roles on discoloration , including initial pH, conductivity, water volume and air flow rate etc. pH and conductivity of distilled water are decreased after treatment by electric discharge .5. In order to increase treating efficiency , the influence of reagents additives such as H2C>2, Fe2+, COj2' on discoloration is (also) studied. H2O2 and Fe2+ have positive affects on treating results ; while CO^2' has negative affect.Through the study on the above-mentioned questions , nearly all parameters related with electric discharge reactor are made certain ,which can be a guide for the design of future reactors.
