Vacuum Pattern Casting Process Research And Development Is Discussed

Expendable Pattern Casting has been developed for 30 years in china. In practice, however, a rapid development was obtained at the end of this 80's. A review of the history in the development of Expendable pattern casting is given in this article. The research present condition of expendable pattern casting process at home was evaluated; As shown in an incomplete statistic, at present there are about 100 groups working on the research and application of this kind of new technology. Among them are 10 high academies or research institutes and 10 companies or plants for raw materials, auxiliary materials, and exclusive facilities. In 1997, the output of EPC castings runs up to 25800t in China, considering that it is only 16% of the current throughput. In this paper introduced the research situation and research results of Expendable Pattern Casting at home; Pattern material in application is EPS; The mechanism of EPC is described; a comparison of different gating systems is also made. The results obtained are of great aid to further studies of interactions among the metal, the mould and the evaporative plastic pattern and to the studies of forming theory of castings, as well as to the establishment of a reliable basis for the design of EPS-V foundry.
