With the running speed of tobacco machine being revving up increasingly, parts of some framework in the machines are quickly abraded. As a result, the frequency of replacing the abraded parts is increased and more and more spare parts are needed accordingly. Because most of the national high-speed machines are imported from other advanced countries, when some of the parts being out of effect, they had to be imported too. If they can be manufactured home , lots of foreign exchange can be saved.The paper mainly deals with the design mechanism and working theory of spiral paper-cutting hobs. In the paper, the author has extended the joggling mechanism of gear wheels , analyzed the forming mechanism of helix cutting in theory, educed the theory edges of the knives and the practice edges of them , carried out error analysis and summed up some useful formulas and parameters. The author has also built a geometry model of the hobs with CAD software and carried out movement imitation in the virtual environment to simulate the movement and interference instance. Besides, the author has designed the 12-tooth, 14-tooth and 8-tooth spiral hobs and given some advice on the task in the future.
