The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the new method about the preparation of triphenylphosphine. Through Friedel-Crafts reaction, We have prepared highly purified triphenylphosphine sulfide by using benzene, phosphorus trichloride, sulfur, and aluminum trichloride, which is desulfurized with metal powder to produce triphenylphosphine. Yields of the two reactions are 79.4% and 80% separately. The results of the reactions are demonstrated and confirmed by IR and 'H-NMR, and the influence factors of the reactions, such as temperature, time and catalyst are studied. Based on the former results, we want to use other reduction methods instead of metal reduction by making further investigation. The probability of catalytic hydrogenation is the most important for us. By experiments, the reaction condition of the catalytic hydrogenation with using Raney-Ni catalyst is obtained. Due to the limitation of equipments, we didn't study it further.
