28Cr high Chromium cast iron is one of primary wear resistancematerials, which is in use at present. It shows superior performance in corrosion wear and abrasive wear. Because it contains certain quantity Molybdenum that increases its cost, its application is limited.The feasibility of Manganese substituting Molybdenum in the thick casting work piece was studied by adding various levels of Manganese. Compared and discussed the wear characteristics and the application under various working conditions by mechanical property test and wear test. In addition, the compare with some wear resistance materials in common use was also made. The results show that adding certain quantity Manganese to 28Cr cast iron will maintain its better corrosion resistance and wear resistance, ever in the thick casing work piece. Finally this thesis discussed the tendency of Manganese content influencing the wear resistance and pointed the contribution to wear resistance of alloy element in 28Cr cast iron and gave the range of proposition Manganese content. Because Manganese substituting Molybdenum will decrease the cost largely that will contribute to the application of 28Cr.
