The 1#~11# Al-Cu-Si series brazing ribbons are prepared by the method of rapid solidification. The brittleness of rapid quenching brazing ribbons is studied thoroughly by the method of DSC, SEM, X-ray, and so on. The research shows: The toughness of rapid quenching ribbons is better than that of ordinary brazing, but the rapid quenching brazing is still brittle because of the essential brittleness of the intermetallics CuAl2(θ) phase. The brittleness of the rapid quenching brazing increases with the increasing of the volume Cu, and the 0 phase of the rapid quenching brazing increase also. The distribution, shape and volume fraction of hard and brittle 0 phase all affect the brittleness of Al-Cu-Si series brazing;The author further researches and explores the performance of the Al-Cu-Si rapid quenching brazing by the annealing heat treatment. While the 6#, l# rapid quenching brazing has been annealed at the 184℃, 215℃, 376℃ temperature. The author has discussed the Cu element and annealing temperature's affection to the brittleness from a point of view, such as crystal lattice, dislocation movement, aberrance stress, grain size, and so on. While the volume of Cu is lack, 6# rapid quenching brazing shows the toughness after the annealing, the 1# rapid quenching brazing which has the high volume of Cu still shows some brittleness after the annealing. The rapid quenching brazing has more improve on the toughness because of the alloy recrystallization.It obtains the new low-melting-point rapid quenching brazing when adding the element Ni, Ag, Ce, B, Sn on the base of the 1# rapid quenching brazing. The quaternary alloy brazing change a little on the melting points and improve on the toughness. The Al-Cu-Si-Ag rapid solidification brazing has the lower melting point and the best toughness than other quaternary brazing, it's a good developing new brazing.
