The explosive welding of thick plate is more difficult than that of thin plate. The author propose a method for the optimum design of explosive welding systems based on the basic requirement of explosive bonding and condition favourable for producing acceptable strong welds, and exploit the computer software. The explosive welding experiment of thick stainless steel(>10mm) and carbon steel plates is carried out with the optimized parameters, then a particular analyse of the effects of start, tail, edge is made. In order to minimize the start, tail, edge effects and the 'over melt', we adjust the technological parameters as well as the detonator. The experiment and testing make clear that the last explosive welding is successful, and the rate of the welding interface over 98% . |
