Recently, dendritic and hyperbrached polymers have drawn the attention of various research groups because of their unique thermal, mechanical and chemical properties. In particular, the one - step synthesis of hyperbranched structures overcomes most of the problems associated with the tedious, multi-step dendrimer preparation. In this paper, two new AB2 monomers, 4-(3,5-diaminobenzamido) benzoic acid and N-(3,5-diaminobenzoyl)-glycine from 4-aminobenzoic acid, glycine and 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride, have been prepared and characterized. Aromatic hyperbranched polyamides have been synthesized by self-condensation reaction of 4-(3,5-diaminobenzamido)benzoic acid and N-(3,5-diaminobenzoyl)- glycine, and a series of hyperbranched polyamides end-group modified have also been prepared by end-capping reaction with acid chlorides. The aromatic hyperbranched polyamides and those modified have been characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13CNMR ,DSC, and TGA measurement.
