Based on mechanics of composite and finite element method, composite gun tube is analysed and the stress distribution and strain distribution are obtained, then modal analysis of the composite gun tube is carried out, and the vibration frequence of composite gun tube are obtained, varying with the winding angles of fiber. With optimization method and Finite Element Method (FEM), the composite gun tube (the winding angles and the thickness of different layers) is optimized. When the stiffness is treated as optimization objective, the optimized structure is obtained, whose stiffness gets to maximum with constrains of strength. When the weight is treated as optimization objective, the optimized structure is obtained, whose weight gets to minimum with constrains of strength and stiffness. When the stiffness and weight are treated as optimization objectives at the same time, the optimized structure is obtained, satifying optimized target which is put forward at first. In summary the paper will be of great value in application.
