According to the defects of the toner prepared by pulverization, polymerization was carried out to produce high quality toner. A spherical polymerized toner with mean particle size about 10 m and a span (d90-d10/d50) about 1.5 is prepared by suspension copolymerization of a mixture of styrene/n- butyl acrylate/carbon black(iron black). The thermal property of polymerized toner is equal to the pulverized toner. And the mechanism of the process of particle forming was also investigated. Through the experimental and theoretic study, the property of polymerized toner can be adjusted by changing the technique was found.1. The key process of preparing good quality toner is to get the good dispersion of oil droplet in the water phase. The average particle size and span was affected by the additive amount of carbon black, time of supersonic, the velocity of stirring, the proportion of oil and water and the dispersant.2. The reason forming the surface structure of toner is that the pigments' flowing because of the energetic change.3. In order to upgrade the toner's surface structure, the pigment was modified its surface property by Si-75.4. The factors affected the toner's thermal property were studied, and the polymerized velocity was also investigated.5. In order to improve the charge of toner, the technology of particle compound was carried out.
