Aluminum alloys with addition of Mg, Si, RE and B were prepared by adjusting the components of the alloy, and the microstructures and properties of alloys under different extruding and heat treating processes were investigated. Using JL-3 type laser burst thermal conductivity analyzer measured the thermal conduction properties of alloys. The microstructure and thermal conduction mechanism were investigated by means of optical microscope, SEM, microprobe and TEM. The results are as follow:1. The thermal conduction properties of the alloy can be enhanced by reducing the solution of Mg and Si in the alloy. The alloy with proper amount of B also has the quite good thermal conduction properties. A small quantity of RE can refine the grain of alloy and improve its mechanical properties, but the plethoric amount of ER would impair the mechanical properties.2. The microstructure and properties of Al-Mg-Si-RE-B alloy was improved by homogenizing at 570C for7h.3. The thermal conduction properties of as-quenched alloy decrease with the increase of deform degree, but after aging for a long time, the influence of deform degree on thermal conduction property of alloy was not obvious.4. Aging has an important effect on the mechanical properties of alloy. The heat conductivity decreases at initial stage of aging, then increase sharply. At higher aging temperature, the thermal conductivity increases faster than at lower aging temperature, but thermal conductivities of alloy aged at different temperature tend to a steady value after a long time aging treat.
