Four new aroylhydrazone ligands of 2-pyridylaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone, 2-pyridylaldehyde furoylhydrazone, 4,5-diazafluorene-9-one isonicotinoylhydrazone, 4,5-diazafluorene-9-one quinaldinoylhydrazone. and two reported polypyridine ligand of 4,5-diazafluorene-9-one (dafo) and Lawesson reagent have been successfully synthesized. Using them and commercial polypyridine ligands of 4,4'-bipyridine, 2,2'-bipyridine and 2-pyridine carboxylic acid as ligands, eleven new complexes have been synthesized. The Crystal structures of complexes 1.[Zn(dafo)2(H2O)2](NO3)2, 2.[Y(bpy)2].(NO3)3, 3.[Ni(Hsal)2(Py)2]n, 4.[Zn(4,4-bpy) (CH3COO)(NO3)]n 5. [Cu(C6H4O2)2].H2O , 6. [Ni(C11H9O2N3)2SO4] (H2O)6 7.[Pb(C12H9N4O3)(CH3COO)], 8.[Cu2(C12H9N4O)2(Cl)2(H2O)6]n, 9.[Y(HL)4(H2O) 4](NO3-)(CH3OH)6, 10.[Ni(L)2(Py)2].(H2O)2; 11.[Ni(C8H10PS2)2] have been determined by x-ray diffraction.Complexes 1-5 are polypyridine coordinated complexes. The complex 1 contains 1-D infinite polymeric chains that are formed through nitrate bridging water molecular. The crystal structure data indicate that the Zn( II) ion was coordinated with the four nitrogen atoms of two dafo and two oxygen atoms of from water molecules respectively. The crystal was stabilized by the intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonds in adjacent molecular, the crystal structure is extended into 2-D network.. Complexes 3-5 are coordinated polymer. Two salicylates in the complex 3 have different coordination mode, one of which is didentate bridging ligand making molecular structure of linear one-dimensional chains. There are a π -π stacking effect between pyridine and hydrogen bonds of neighbouring one-dimensional and the molecular structure is extended into two-dimensional network. The complex 4, 5 contains 1-D infinite polymeric chains that are formed through 4,4'-bipyridine, 2-pyridine carboxylic acid bridging Zn( II) and Ni( II) ions. There is a π - π stacking effect between 4,4'-bipyridine of neighbouring one-dimensional and the molecular structure is extended into two-dimensional network.Complexes 6-10 are aroylhydrazones coordinated complexes. The Complex 6 crystallizes in a triclinic cell with space group P2(l). The crystal structure data indicated that the Ni (II) ion was coordinated through two oxygen and four nitrogen atoms from two ligands, which coordinate to Ni (II) ion in the keto form. Ni (II) ion is a six-coordination in the center of the distorted octahedron. The crystal was stabilized by the intermolecular π-π stacking and intermolecular hydrogen bonds in adjacent molecules. Complexes 7 and 8 crystallize in a monoclinic, triclinic cell and respectively belong to P2(l)/c and p-lspace group, each Pb (II) ion in the complex 7 is four coordinated by one oxygen atom and two nitrogen atoms from ligand and one oxygen atom from acetic acid, crystal was stabilized by the intermolecular π-π stacking between the pyridine planes. Cu( II) ion in the complex 8 is five-coordination, the coordination geometry of Cu(II) ion can be described as square pyramid. Pyridyl nitrogen atom of isonicotinoylhydrazine moiety coordinated to Cu( II) ion forming a 1-D zigzag chain. Cu( II) ions and Chlorides, as a weaker intermolecular forces for the formation 2-D lamellar structure. The Complex9 crystallizes in a monoclinic cell with space group C2/c crystal was stabilized by the intramolecular, intermolecular π -π stacking between the diazafluorene planes and pyridine planes. The crystal structure data indicated that the Ni (II) ion in the complex10 was coordinated through two oxygen and two nitrogen atoms from two HL ligands and nitrogen atoms from two pyridine molecules. Ni (II) ion is a six-coordination in the center of the octahedron. The crystal was stabilized by the intermolecular π- π stacking between the diazafluorene planes in adjacent molecules. The Ligand coordinates to Ni (II) as a mono-negative bi-dentate ligand with enolic oxygen atom of amide group and nitrogen atom of quinaldic group. The cyclization of Lawesson's reagent with the bifunctional...
