Nanocrystalline CuO has been widely used as a multi-functional fine inorganic material. It has also been used as the catalysts of many reactions and the main component of many catalysts. The Nanocrystalline CuO was prepared in two systems of solid reaction, and the different reaction conditions were discussed. Then the NH4HCO3 and the CO(NH2)2 were selected as the precipitator respectively to prepare the nanocrystalline CuO and the reaction mechanism was discussed in detail. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) , Fourier transform Infrared(FT-IR), thermal gravity (TG), differential thermal analysis( DTA ) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) respectively .The results show that the presence of small amounts of surfactant can improve the dispersity of the product. Especially in the solution the dispersity of the product can be more improved by the azeotropic distillation method. It was found that the nanocrystalline CuO can be prepared in one step by the CO(NH2)2 as the precipitator in solution and the reaction mechanism has been modified . A series of nanocomposite crystals have been synthesized and their catalytic activity on NH4C1O4 has been investigated . Finally the capabilities of the powder and the detonator were investigated by adding small amounts of nanocrystalline CuO or nanocomposite crystals to them respectively.
