Electrochemical, spectral study and application of some new azacyclic ligand and transition metal complexes were investigated in this paper. The thesis consists of three parts as the following:(1) The electrochemical behavior of eight new divalent transition metal benzensulphonate complexes with 1,10-phenanthroline were investigated in different solvents and supporting electrolytes by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The influence of various coordination modes on the electrochemical behaviors of these complexes was discussed in detail. Some electrochemical constants were also calculated. (2) 4,6-Di-pyridin-2-yl-pyrimidin-2-ylamine (PPA) was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and UV-Vis, fluorescence spectral measurements. Interaction of Cu(II) with PPA made n-π* absorption spectra red shift and fluorescence decrease as well. The results showed that the PPA can form complex with Cu (II) at the proportion of 1:1.(3) A sensitive and selective method for the determination of Cu (II) with PPA modified carbon paste electrode was demonstrated by differential pulse voltammetry. Under optimum conditions, the electrode exhibits linear response to Cu (II) over a wide concentration range from 2.0×10-8 to 1.0×10-4 mol/L. The detection limit was found to be 1.0×10-8 mol/L. Many metal ions did not interfere with the determination. The experimental results were in good agreement with AAS.
