The catalyzed synthesis of sulfuryl fluoride from Cl2, SO2 and HF in a fixed-bed reactor is studied in this paper. A one-dimensional mathematical model is established and a serial of questions concerned with this field such as effects of macro-reaction kinetics, reactor simulation and operation are discussed. The macro-reaction kinetics with the catalysis of actived carbon carried alkli metal bifluoride under the conditions similar to commercial process is obtained. The one-dimensional mathematical model is built to express the commercial reactor of sulfuryl fluoride and proved to explain data of commercial production. Based on the analysis of three fixed-bed reactors, a continuous fixed-bed reactor cooled by N2 is selected and the effects of number of cooling pipes, flow rate of N2, and inlet temperatures of reaction materials and N2 are discussed through simulation and calculation.
