The removal of ammonia nitrogen by ultrasonic stripping is a new-type and high-efficient method to get rid of high concentration of ammonia nitrogen in wastewater. This way derives from combining the traditional ammonia stripping technology with ultrasonic, based on the traditional ammonia stripping treatment. The purpose of this research aims at studying the efficiency of removal of ammonia nitrogen in the artificial wastewater by ultrasonic stripping and on this basis, further investigating the application of ultrasonic stripping to wastewater treatment of high-level of ammonia nitrogen. The study of removing ammonia nitrogen in artificial wastewater by ultrasonic stripping indicated that pH value, initial ammonia nitrogen concentration, ultrasonic stripping temperature, reaction time and ultrasonic power exerted influence on removing ammonia nitrogen. Under the condition of initial low concentration of ammonia nitrogen, the efficiency of ammonia nitrogen removal was not high. Under the condition of initial high concentration of ammonia nitrogen, the efficiency of ammonia nitrogen was much better than that of low concentration, the highest up removal arrived at 99% beyond, i.e.. with the increase of initial ammonia nitrogen concentration, the efficiency of removing ammonia nitrogen was increased, and when pH value reached 11, highest efficiency was achieved; When pH value was around 11, the efficiency of removing ammonia nitrogen was increased with the rise of temperature, reaction time and ultrasonic power. At the same time, the optimized process conditions for ammonia nitrogen wastewater through the ultrasonic stripping orthogonal tests are: pH of 11, stripping times of 90min, temperature of 40 °C, ultrasonic power of 80W. The removing rate of ammonia nitrogen under the best stripping condition is 99% beyond. The study of removing ammonia nitrogen in real wastewater by ultrasonic stripping indicated that effect of pH value including other factors etc. was similar to that of artificial wastewater. The lowest and highest efficiency of removing ammonia nitrogen in pharmacetical wastewater were respectively 40.72% and 99.25%, Simultaneously, the removal of COD was increased obviously. The lowest and highest efficiency in oil refining wastewater were 88.36% and 99.60%, and the removal of COD was increased by 20%. The removing of efficiency ammonia nitrogen of ultrasonic stripping was higher than that of generic stripping methods bythe range of 50% beyond. The optimum pH value of wastewater above was the same, 10.5. In brief, the result of removing ammonia nitrogen by ultrasonic stripping in real wastewater shows obvious performance.Combining ultrasonic stripping with the generic stripping method not only improving on the operation cost of ultrasonic technology but also making up the limitation of the low efficiency by the traditional stripping treatment. While guaranteeing the removal efficiency of ultrasonic stripping method both reduces the organic compounds of wastewater. Consequently, the removal of ammonia nitrogen by ultrasonic stripping has a very bright future.
