A kind of high density (about 25wt%) modified polypropylene (pp) plastic mother particle for melt-blowing was obtained by adopting pp with special tourmaline. Mixed with pp slices according to certain proportion, a new type of composite electret pp melt-blown nonwovens was made by method of common melt-blowing process with corona charging.The spinnabilty of the modified pp plastic mother particle was investigated through rheological porterty testing and spinning experiment. It was found that the special tourmaline, surface of which was treated with 2-5 wt % titanium coupling agent,3-4 wt % low density polyethylene wax and little antixidant, had been dispersed well in the pp resin.A better process route of electret melt-blown nonwovens was confirmed after practice groping again and again. Four kind of electret pp melt-blown nonwovens were prepared, respectively containing tourmaline 0 wt %,3 wt %,6 wt % and 8 wt% . Furthermore, some kinds of properties of them were studyed.The results show that the filtration efficiency (FE) of PP melt-blown nonwovens charged by corona-charging can be improved greatly, while the filtration resistance (FR) declines. Furthermore, the FE of pp melt-blown nonwovens modified with special tourmaline can be enhanced more. At the same time, Surface density of charge was increased accordingly, and more stable. In particular, the electret melt-blown nonwovens containing 6%wt tourmaline has best integrated effects, surface charge density of which can reach -10μc/m~2.When the FR of it is 9.2Pa, the FE comes to 95.8% for 0.26 μ m diameter particle. After being treated 12hours at high temperature, The FE of composite electret pp melt-blown nonwovens decrease less than common electret pp melt-blown nonwovens.Moreover, the thermal stability, mechanical properties, and mass special resistance of as-spun were discussed. Also the surface morphology structure, mechanical properties, air permeability, moisture permeability , far-infrared emissivity and anti-bacterium function of nonwovens were analyzed.
