High chlorinated polyethylene(HCPE) coating is a newly developed anticorrosion coating in China these years. As polar polymer, HCPE can be used as an ideal film former of anticorrosion paint with saturated molecule chains, high chloride content and excellent properties. However great interactions between polar groups of molecules result in bad flexibility of paint film. HCPE coating can meet higher usage demand if modified. In this paper, orthogonal test was used to study chlorosulphonated polyethylene(CSM) modified HCPE anticorrosive coating and microstructure and its influence on properties were characterized by SEM and TEM test. It was indicated that HCPE particles were embeded in the dispersed phase of CSM, which can modify flexibility of paint film. Meantime, it is good for keeping excellent adhesivity and rigidity of HCPE with less content of CSM in this coating. Besides, it is found that particular flake structure of mica plate can increase anticorrosion properties. And it is useful to increase viscosity of the system because of tiny particles structure of silica by SEM test. Results showed modified HCPE anticorrosion paint has excellent anticorrosion properties and good adhesivity; flexibility of paint film increased to lmm. It is also indicated that CSM, Talcum powder and Fe2O3 have great influence on flexibility of paint film. Mica plate and.Fe2O3 affect the adhesivity greatly.
