The organobentonites sorption behavior of organic compounds from water were described. The sorption properties, mechanisms and rules of PAHs to anion-cation organobentonites from water were reviewed. The applications of anion-cation organobentionites in wastewater treatment were studied. The applications of organobentionites in wastewater treatment and remediation of contaminated environment were also forecasted.A series of anion-cation organobentonites are synthesized by exchanging anion-cation surfactants such as dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTMAB), sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS), sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate(SDBS) on bentonite. The sorption properties, rules and mechanisms for anion-cation organobentonites to sorb phenanthrene, acenaphthene in water are investigated in detail. The results indicate that the organic carbon contents of anion-cation organobentonites are more than that of natural bentonite and corresponding single-cation organobentonite. The organic carbon contents of anion-cation organobentonites are also correlated to the type and concentration of anion surfactants exchanged on the bentonite. When the concentration of cation surfactants exchanged on the bentonite is fixed, the organic carbon contents of anion-cation organobentonites are proportional to the concentration of anion surfactants exchanged on the bentonite. When the concentration of anion surfactants exchanged on the bentonite is fixed, the organic carbon contents of anion-cation organobentonites are proportional to the concentration of cation surfactants exchanged on the bentonite. When the type and concentration of anion surfactants exchanged on the bentonite are the same, the organic carbon contents of anion-cation organobentonites are proportional to the length of alkyl chains of anion surfactants.The results also indicate that the sorption of phenanthrene, acenaphthene to anion-cation organobentonites are better than that to sigle-cation organobentonites. The sorption of anion-cation organobentonites are related to the amounts and kinds of surfactants,the property of organic compounds, the concentration of surfactant solution and so on. Sorption isotherms of phenanthrene, acenaphthene are linear. Patition occurs to the sorption for phenanthrene, acenaphthene to anion-cation organobentonites. The propertion of partition in the total sorption for acenaphthene to anion-cation organobentonite is more than that to soil and sediments. So the sorption of acenaphthene to anion-cation organobentonites are better than that to soil and sediments. It is one of the necessary conditions to control and recover contaminated environment.The applications of anion-cation organobentionites in coking wastewater treatment were studied. Results show that removal efficiency of CODcr and PAHS in coking wastewater are improved by treating with both of anion-cation organobentonites and Al2(SO4)3. The sediment speed of sludge is increased. Organiobentonites has a good application foreground in the field of wastewater treatment.
